WANT TO LEARN ?

If you have decided that you would like to learn to fly trikes, Caboolture Microlights can provide all the training you need to obtain your pilot certificate and beyond.

We have experienced & friendly instructors who are passionate about microlight flying and two current model aircraft which are fully insured - including for student solo use. This means there is no need to have your own aircraft to complete your training though you can learn in your own aircraft (provided it has equivalent insurance cover to ours).

Our t
raining is conducted in accordance with the approved RA-Aus syllabus and successful completion of the course results in the issue of a pilot certificate. This could take as little as 20 hours of flying time (including 5 hours of supervised solo) though most people require a bit longer.

Each flight will be about an hour but they are booked for 90 minutes duration to allow time for a pre-flight inspection of the aircraft and to discuss the objectives of the lesson. At the end of the flight we will also have a chat about how well you did.

It's much easier to explain some of the concepts using a whiteboard and model aircraft than whilst we are in the air. So, for about half of the lessons we spend a bit of time in the classroom beforehand. Please don't view this a chore - it will allow you to get much better value from the time spent flying  & also provides an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

To qualify for your RA-Aus pilot certificate, it is necessary to pass a number of multiple-choice exams. You do need to do some studying in your own to pass these but you'll get lots of help & support from us so don't be put off.  Spending a bit of time studying between lessons will also help you achieve goals in the air quicker so its in your own interests to do so.

Most students try to book at least one lesson per week but don't worry if this isn't possible - we will work with you to organise a feasible schedule. For students from further afield, it is possible to arrange with us to do more intensive courses. We don't generally recommend more than 2 flights per day though. Whilst this might not sound much, if you aren't tired after that we didn't push you hard enough !

Finally, Caboolture Microlights take pride in our safe & responsible approach to microlight flying. If you share this view we would love to help on your journey to becoming a pilot.  If you don't want to take your training seriously then please consider a different school or even a different  pastime.
